I started out again full of hope and joy. Just as the hills started, four boys came running up. With their satchels I guessed they were on their way home from school. Without my asking, they started pushing my bike. They pushed it several hundred metres, all the way to the top of what was quite a steep hill. It was so refreshing to see their smiling faces as they pushed the bicycle along with undiluted glee. Their joy was infectious. (from "Against the Wind" - Poolbeg Press)
