Rolling smoothly along, I suddenly noticed I had arrived in France. Powering westwards, I got directions from a kind man, discovered how well English was spoken, was flustered by the charms of a gorgeous French woman who popped her head out of the passenger window of a Citroen, saw a flock of seagulls take to the air ahead and then away in the distance I saw the funnels of a big ferry. I had arrived in Calais. Suddenly I was on the very edge of the Eurasian continent. (from "Against the Wind" - Poolbeg Press)
