I had begun to see more and more pink flowers. Brilliant carpets of pink lay between the dark green forest trees on both sides of the road. The only flower and shrub names I knew were cherry, tulip and maple, so I decided to call these flowers Asia saish?bana (‘Last flowers in Asia’). It was as though they were forming a gateway of flowers leading us out of Asia. (from "Against the Wind" - Poolbeg Press)
