Being reacquainted with my long lost friend made me realise what I had been missing. Long time no see, partner. I wondered how she had been. I hadn’t seen her in such a long time that I didn’t recognise her straight away. I looked at her, said that I had missed her, and whispered that she had grown fairer since the last time I saw her. Back together, and overwhelmed, I dismounted and kissed the tarmac in gratitude. I rolled onto the skin of civilisation and glided smoothly on my way. (from "Against the Wind" - Poolbeg Press)
