I spotted a white object. On closer inspection it looked like the skeleton of a cow. There were more, further on. This time the skeletal remains had skin still attached. They belonged to a horse. It seemed like the animal had sustained an injury and died there. The bones lying scattered all over the place were a reminder of what a harsh, unforgiving environment this was. In these temperatures, and with such low humidity, I would have to be extra careful too. This was no joke. (from "Against the Wind" - Poolbeg Press)
