The boat had made it across the stormy sea. The
lateral shaking had subsided and it seemed we were close to
land.
Running up onto the deck, there before my eyes lay the
green countryside of Ireland. The scene was flooded with
golden evening sunlight. A big flock of seagulls flew around
overhead, screaming a welcome across the sparkling golden
sea. Words cannot express what I felt at that moment.
I had made it to Ireland. Yes, yes, yes!
I’d done it. I’d really done it. (from "Against the Wind" - Poolbeg Press)
